Hemophilia B is a type of inherited bleeding disorder that results when the body lacks the protein necessary to produce blood clots that stop bleeding. This can be particularly dangerous for patients if they cannot stop bleeding following an injury, bruising, surgery, or dental procedure.  This hereditary bleeding disorder caused by a lack of blood clotting factor IX, which is responsible for healthy clotting to control bleeding.
